Wacheva Cultural Arts is an organization that presents and supports multicultural dance, drum, and fitness programming in the Central New York Community.
Wacheva is a not-for-profit organization with 501(c)3 tax-exempt status
We are based in Syracuse, NY to connect with the community of Syracuse and actively contribute to the diversity of Syracuse by organizing the meeting of different ethnicities and cultures.
WE PROVIDE:
Schools, University, & Communities program:
· African dance and drum workshops
· African dance and drum performances
· Lecture demonstration
· Master classes
A. Lectures/demonstrations which bring to life the study of West African music, history, cultural arts, and the humanities.
B. Dance/drum workshops which allow for a hands-on cultural experience through a unique educational interaction between students, the art form, and its fascinating history.
C. High-energy dance, drum, and song performances complete with vibrant, traditional West African costumes.
Biboti Ouikahilo, artistic director of Wacheva and a professional master dancer, choreographer, and drummer from the Ivory Coast, has had many years of experience sharing aspects of West African culture with university students
More recently, Biboti has presented his dynamic artistry across the Central New York region through relationships with different Colleges & universities such as Syracuse University, SUNU Oswego College, Cazenovia College, SUNU Cortland State College, Jefferson Community college, Onondaga community College, Wells College, Hamilton College, Elmira College, Ithaca College, Utica College, Hobart William & Smith College, Canisius College, Hudson Valley Community College, North Countries Community Colleges, Finger Lakes Community College Lemoyne College and more.
